2. Los Rápidos
One of Bacalar’s most popular and breathtaking places. Crystal-clear waters and gentle currents make it ideal for swimming or floating between mangroves.
3. Beach Club Blu
A luxurious and elegant beach club known for its serene ambiance and stunning lagoon views — perfect for those seeking a stylish, comfortable experience.
4. Rancho Alegre
A quiet and peaceful area, ideal for those who want to enjoy the lagoon away from the crowds. Simple, natural, and very charming.
5. Cocalitos
Famous for its stromatolites — ancient living formations found only in a few places on Earth. A must-see natural wonder with shallow turquoise waters perfect for a swim.
Archaeological Sites Nearby
The region surrounding Bacalar is filled with fascinating archaeological sites that tell the story of the ancient Maya civilization.
Chacchoben – Located just 25 minutes from Aqua Viva, this is the closest and most popular site. Its impressive temples and jungle setting make it a perfect half-day trip.
Ichkabal – About 35 minutes away, Ichkabal remains partly unexplored, giving visitors a sense of mystery and authenticity. It’s one of the most promising archaeological discoveries in southern Quintana Roo.
Kohunlich – Approximately 1 hour from Aqua Viva, Kohunlich is famous for its Temple of the Masks and well-preserved stucco carvings representing the Sun God.
Dzibanché – Located about 1 hour and 20 minutes away, Dzibanché features tall pyramids surrounded by dense jungle and offers a truly off-the-beaten-path adventure.
Calakmul – 4 hours from Aqua Viva, Calakmul is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located deep within the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. It’s one of the largest and most impressive ancient Mayan cities ever discovered — ideal for those who love exploration and nature.
